Clamming, crabbing, and fishing....

This past week was a lot of fun...Sam and Brandie came up to visit and so it was a good chance for Aspen and I to get outside and do a few of my favorite activities.

~Fishing on the boat ~

That is actually an 80 lb. halibut - it just looks small under water

Matt and Greg having fun

Greg reeling in a big halibut

Matt looks like he's getting a little tired from reeling

She kinda just hung out right here the whole time

~River Fishing ~

Hiking the Bartlett...Sterling, Katie, and the kids were also with us

Just hanging out

The secret weapons

Greg caught a pink salmon

This picture makes me laugh because of the face she is making

Brandie and her pink salmon

Greg caught this sockeye and one more after that

Greg watching Aspen while I fish

Hiking out of the river....I wish that I had pictures of us leaving because all of us were stranded on the other side of the river when the tide came up. The guys had to carry us girls and the kids on their shoulders so that we could get across.

These flowers were off to the side of the trail

~Hanging out at the dock~

Some of the boats that come in (none of those are Greg's)

Sam and Brandie seeing what they can bring up

Greg cleaning the fish from the day

~Crabbing~
The guys pulling up the king crab pot

~Clamming~
We all went out clamming one morning...dug up a few and then heard later that we couldn't eat them because it was Red Tide...these didn't look very appetising anyway so I was OK with that :)

That's one of them - it's called a gooey duck (that one was also broken with the shovel...mom and dad will probably get a kick out of this pic)

They were not easy to dig out

Halibut carcass that washed up

I just walked around...it was fun to watch :)

I love all of the pix. It looks amazing up there. And best of all it doesn't look hot.
Just to let you know it was 121 degrees at lake mead today. That was pretty neat!

The mud sure looks sticky where you were digging for clams! I loved seeing so many different pictures -- amazing Alaska scenery. And it looks like Aspen is already becoming very acquainted with the outdoors -- Greg will probably be buying her a fishing pole soon. (:
