It feels like it’s been a very busy summer! Greg’s been working a ton doing not only his Charter fishing but he also has been Commercial fishing on his days off this year. He bought a hand troll permit for Salmon and a Bottomfish permit for Lingcod and Rockfish. And Aspen and I have been keeping ourselves busy taking care of the garden/yard(which has been a challenge this year keeping up with the weeding & watering but I’m really enjoying the outcome), berry picking/canning(soon to be canning fish, veggies, & other meats with the pressure canner I got this year), and of course going on adventures with Aspen. Here are some of our pictures(most of them are taken with my cell phone because my camera is broken…so they aren’t the best quality)
This was a really beautiful day that we went out hand trolling with Greg. It was the first time I’ve ever been out with him to help. I had so much fun and I love being able to see what he does. Aspen was quite the trooper also. This isn’t like us casually fishing where I can just hang with her most of the time(you have to be pulling up lines, then gill the fish, and put the lines/gear back out and repeat over and over…it gets pretty crazy with fish everywhere) so it would definitely be easier to have a babysitter. But for now I don’t have one so she gets to go with us and learn how to be on a boat for long periods of time.
That’s the back of a whale…it was breaching out of the water but I could never get a good shot.
These next few a from a different day when he took us to the cannery in Excursion Inlet to show us what happens when he offloads his fish.
Watching as Greg goes up the ladder to where they count his fish.
And here we are entertaining ourselves while we wait for Greg to get back…
She was a happy little thing…that’s her ballerina move(she can’t do it as well with boots on :)
Putting in the bait getting ready to drop the King Crab pot…yummy!
These are just my random pictures…
She got a little bit wet while watering the lawn
Playing at the park…
Hanging down by the river dipping our feet in the water. I was telling her about the fish that swim up this river and how to look to see if she could see any(the tide was to high with murky water so we couldn’t see them…but I didn’t tell her that). So, when she wasn’t looking I would throw a rock in and tell her that a fish just jumped right there…she totally loved it! Greg drove by us on our way home and she had to tell him all about the fish jumping in the river
Just Aspen and I having lunch out at the lodge.
We were on a mission to find some Salmonberries. I only was able to find a few…but I think I found a good spot if I can get down to it.
Salmonberries and Blueberries
Aspen is obsessed with picking flowers. Some of her favorites to pick happen to be daisy’s. Cute little girl
Visiting Greg on the dock
These last ones are from when we went to one of Greg’s softball games. I really wish I would have had a video camera to get this. They were laughing so hard…it was the cutest thing!
They were actually playing Ring Around The Rosy and this is where Aspen thought it was more fun to try and pull Taiya down. But Taiya doesn’t come down very easy so its like she was dragging Aspen(totally laughing her head off). Eventually Taiya would go down and Aspen would tell her “more Rosy”.
They picked flowers together and shared hotdogs.
